Lucky Coins

Lucky Coins is one of those games that sneaks up on you. On the surface it's a simple casual puzzler: you tap and drag coins around a small grid, matching them by colour and shape to clear the board before the timer runs low. Nothing about the first level suggests you'll still be playing twenty minutes later, but you will be.

The controls are the star here. Everything is one thumb — a flick to slide a row, a tap to lock a coin in place. The game reads your intent well, so those satisfying chain-clears feel like your doing rather than luck. Levels layer in gentle new rules, like coins that only move diagonally or tiles that freeze after a turn, and the difficulty curve is patient without being dull.

What we liked most is the mood. The soundtrack is soft, the animations are bright without being loud, and there's no pressure hurrying you between boards. It's a phone game in the best sense — pick it up for two minutes, put it down without feeling robbed. A few later levels lean a touch too hard on trial and error, but that's a minor gripe in an otherwise charming little game.
